About

Hey, I'm Matt

I'm a lifelong horror fan who's finally decided to put myself out there and learn how to build a site (with help from Claude.)

Why Horror?

For as long as I can remember, horror has been a part of my life. I remember catching glimpses of Twin Peaks or the ITminiseries before my mom rushed me to bed, remnants of what I’d just seen replacing the sheep I should have been counting to fall asleep. The first horror film I remember seeing was A Nightmare on Elm Street, when I was far too young. It scared the hell out of me, the tub scene traumatized me, and I was HOOKED. It wasn’t long before a poster of Freddy found its place alongside posters for Back to the Future and E.T. on my bedroom walls.

I started collecting physical media when my mom pre-ordered Batman (1989) on VHS from a local video store. The idea that I could watch the movie I had seen in theaters at home anytime I wanted blew my mind. The following year I got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Home Alone, and my collection was born. Eventually I discovered a video store called Saturday Matinee at my local mall and started adding horror to the collection. I still collect 4Ks, Blu-rays, DVDs, and VHS, as well as other media formats like vinyl records, CDs, books, and magazines.

I started this site to talk about the things I love: horror movies, books, and shows, physical media, nostalgia, toys, and video games. My life wasn’t always easy growing up, but I found solace in watching or reading things that fired up my imagination, especially if they creeped me out. I don’t think I’m alone in that, and I hope this can be a place where people like us find each other.
